Wilfred's Life Story His Way...

Wilfred Joseph Labbe' Jr. was born on July 22, 1958, in Los Angeles, California to parents Wilfred, Sr. and Dorothy Labbe' while his father was serving in the U.S. Navy. After several years in Los Angeles, the family moved back home to Houston, Texas where Wilfred attended HISD public schools and graduated from Madison High School. At Madison H. S. Wilfred excelled in the ROTC, and at one time was the statistician for Madison School sports. Prior to attending high school, Wilfred ran track at Albert Thomas Junior High and played Little League Baseball. He also was an excellent bowler, winning trophies regularly. Wilfred was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout during his elementary school years. He also participated in the Houston Chronicle Paper Art contest and won blue ribbons for achievement.

After graduating from Madison High School, he attended Texas Southern University. Wilfred later joined the U S Army. After his tenure in the Army, he followed his hobby of cooking by moving to Las Vegas, Nevada and began working at the Flamingo Restaurant on Sunset Blvd learning culinary skills.

After returning to Houston Texas, he met and married Linda Gaither. Wilfred had one child, Willette, and one grandchild. Settling down in Houston, Wilfred began working at the VA Hospital.

At an early age Wilfred joined Mt. Hebron Baptist Church where he was baptized. He sang in the youth choir during his preteen years. He eventually joined Mt. Gilead Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Anthony Ford. Later, he returned to Brentwood Church where he continued his final Christian journey.

Wilfred was preceded in death by parents Wilfred J. Labbe, Sr. and Charles Gabriel. He leaves to cherish his memory. his mother Dorothy Gabriel; Brother Winston Labbe' (Tammy); Daughter Willette Labbe'; Niece Sheridan Labbe' and, a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friend, Robert Brown (God brother).
