Barbara Faye Whiting

On January 10, 2026, Barbara Faye Whiting, age 78, gave up her mortal body for a new transformed body prepared for her by Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, where she will live in eternity with him.

Barbara was born on November 17, 1947, in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Marcellus Whiting and Pearl James. She attended Clovis High Schools and graduated from Clovis High School in 1965. After graduating Barbara then pursued college where she attended Texas Southern University in Houston, TX. Upon her return to Clovis she became employed by the name Mountain Bell Telephone Company, which transitioned to AT&T, as a telephone operator. While with AT&T she worked in Albuquerque, NM, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Phoenix, and Arizona. After 30 years, she retired and returned to Albuquerque and lived there for several years and eventually returned home to Clovis.

There are not enough words in the English language to describe who Barbara was and what she meant to her family and friends, except to say that she was truly, deeply loved by all. Barbara did not have any real hobbies except for driving anyone and everyone around to where they needed to go. Her family referred to her as the Taxi Driver!

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Muffley Funeral Home, 1430 Thornton Street. Funeral service will take place at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 106 Calhoun Street on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Delmus L. Gillis officiating. Burial to follow at Mission Garden of Memories, 2900 W. 7th Street.

Kamal Cass, Koren Cass, Marcus Moore, Omar Molette Fredrick Johnson, Hubert Gardner will serve as pallbearers.

Barbara is survived by her uncle; Jon James of Louisville, KY, her three siblings; Charlotte Molette (Omar), Kevin Cass (Sonya), and Craig Cass, all of Clovis, NM, and a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, and very special cousins.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; Marcellus Whiting and Pearl James and stepfather; Robert Cass, siblings; Joyce Whiting, Beverley Cass, John Cass, Robert Cass, Keith Cass, Alesia Cass, niece; Samantha Cass, and great nephew; Isaiah Howard.
