Willa Ruth Long Lawson

Willa Ruth Long Lawson, 83 of Dayhoit, received her eternal reward, surrounded by family on December 5, 2024. Willa Ruth leaves behind a legacy of steadfast faith in her Savior Jesus Christ. The type of faith that moves mountains, creates miracles, opens the eyes of the blind, heals the sick, delivers the oppressed and brings salvation to the lost. The testimony of faith from the life of Willa Ruth will continue throughout the ages as it is eternally ingrained in the hearts and souls of all those that encountered her in this life.

Willa Ruth was born on August 24, 1941 in Smith, Ky to Marco and Inez Cottrell. She is preceded in death by her Parents; Her loving Husband and Father of her Children, Reverend Aaron Long; Sons, Dany Long and Kenneth Long; Grandson, Kenneth Daniel Long; Brother, Ronnie Cottrell; Grandparents, P.E. and Emma Kate Pace and Wright and Mary Cottrell.

Left to cherish her memory are her two Brothers, Gary Cottrell of Barbourville and Steve Cottrell and Wife Pam of Manchester; Her Children, Michael Long and Wife Mary of London, Gregory Long and Wife Linda of Smith, Tim Long and Wife Debbie of Kodak, TN and Karen Howard and Husband Charlie of Coldiron; Willa Ruth also leaves behind 15 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren, as well as a host of Nieces and Nephews that she adored, cherished, loved and prayed for daily. She also leaves behind her very special friends of many years, Una Saylor and Sandy Hendrickson.

The Family would also like to thank Dr. Jose Echeverria for his wonderful care of Willa Ruth over the past 29 years. A special thank you also to Betty Brock and Holi Cottrell who were not only her caretakers but special friends. Thank you also to Bobbie Brown and all the Staff at Harlan Home Health and Hospice.

A visitation for Ms. Willa Ruth will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024 from 4PM to 8PM in the Chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 1PM at Faith Holiness Church in Smith with Spencer Burkhart, Doug Daniel, Steve Daniel, Jerry Collins, Jerry McKinley and Steve Temple officiating. Burial will follow at the Hensley Cemetery with her Grandsons serving as pallbearers.
