Willard Sutherland, Jr., 75, of Fort Gay, WV went to be with the Lord on September 9, 2025.
He was born January 3, 1950, the son of the late Willard "Howard" and Alma Maynard Sutherland.
Willard was a graduate of Crum High School and a retired surface miner at Marrowbone Development. He honorably served in the United States Army completing a tour in Vietnam. He was a member of the Genoa United Baptist Church.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Linda Feasel Sutherland; a son, Willard "Willie" Sutherland III, a daughter Cynthia (Matthew) Reid; sisters Weltha Jane Zunk, Christina Sutherland- King, and one brother, Warren Sutherland. He had four chosen grandchildren Christopher Marcum, Sarah Marcum, Joshua Wells, Denet Wells and one special great grandchild, Owen Marcum. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Rose Maynard and Ruby Sutherland.
If you were his friend or a stranger, he was sure to talk to you about the Lord, the Bible, his adventures coon hunting, stories about fishing, or anything with a motor. By the time you left you'd be his friend and be added to his list of people he was praying for.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 15th at 12:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Stapleton officiating. Burial will follow with Full Military Honors at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be on Monday, September 15th, at Wilson Funeral Home from 10 am until services begin at 12.
Care for Willard and his family has been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Willard Sutherland Jr Memorial Fund at First State Bank, Louisa KY. Funds will be donated to Kids Fishing Day at Yatesville Lake and The Good News Club at Fort Gay Elementary as Willard would love knowing he was helping kids learn to fish and hear God's word.
