In Loving Memory of William (Bill) Patrick Hawkins III
A Life of Love, Laughter, and Lasting Legacy
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William "Bill" Patrick Hawkins III, of San Antonio, Texas. Bill passed away peacefully on Friday September 5th, surrounded by his devoted family. He was 83 years old.
Born on October 27, 1941, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, Bill was the beloved son of the late William and Joan Hawkins. He graduated from Alamo Heights High School and continued his education at St. Edward's for two years before transferring to St. Mary's University, where he completed his college education.
Bill's remarkable career began at Sigmor as a Division Manager of retail operations. His passion for people and relentless work ethic led him to the Manpower Group, where he served as the National Operations Manager of the Petroleum Division. Later, Bill purchased The Olsten Staffing Franchise of South-Central Texas and eventually launched Hawkins Personnel Group alongside his daughters. Under his leadership and vision, the company grew into a trusted provider of human resource solutions across South Central Texas-a legacy that continues to thrive today.
Bill was not only a respected business leader but also a generous and active member of his community. He served as President of the Texas Association of Staffing, the Olmos Kiwanis Club, and the Governors Club. He also held the role of Finance Chair during a major renovation at St. Peter's Church. His dedication extended to numerous organizations, including the San Antonio Manufacturing Association, American Staffing Association, Conopus Club, Rotary Club of San Antonio, Sunshine Cottage, San Antonio Country Club, The Argyle, and The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre.
Beyond his professional and civic contributions, Bill will be remembered for his love of life. He enjoyed golf, staying active, and taking memorable cruises and vacations with family. His legendary sense of humor, particularly his spot-on impersonations, brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Sally Hawkins; his daughters, Jennifer Hawkins Moore and Elizabeth Hawkins; and his cherished grandsons, Tyler and Dylan Moore. He is also survived by his brother, Alf Hawkins, his wife Cher and a wide circle of friends, colleagues, and loved ones who will miss him deeply. His enduring love, guidance, and support shaped the lives of those closest to him and created a legacy defined by compassion, strength, and unity.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in San Antonio, TX on September 18th at 3PM, followed by a reception to be announced at the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in his honor.
Bill's warmth, humor, and unwavering love will remain forever in our hearts. He will be profoundly missed and fondly remembered.
