William Adams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nelson Memorial Gardens, Inc. - Fort Wayne on Feb. 12, 2026.
William Adams Jr., affectionately known as "Black Beauty" and "Snow," was born on June 4, 1940, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Mable Brown and William Adams Sr. He departed this life peacefully at home on February 7, 2026. William accepted our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at an early age. Throughout his life, he faced many challenges, yet he remained steadfast in his faith, trusting that God would guide him through every obstacle.

In 1963, William moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he built a long and dedicated career with Fort Wayne Lincoln Mercury, serving faithfully for 45 years. His passion for automobiles led him to establish his own business as an auto and body repairman, where he became known for his skill, craftsmanship, and commitment to quality.

William's life was marked by perseverance, faith, and hard work. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 49 years, Norma Adams; his siblings Lillie Shears, Annie Laura Petty, and Charlie (Bessie) Adams; his sons William Farley, Darrie Hinton, and Harvey (Ruby) Stewart; and his daughters Carla Montgomery and Sheila Hinton.

William also leaves behind 26 grandchildren, along with a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mable Brown, his father William Adams, his daughters Pheader Groce and Angeline Adams, and his sons Derrick Hinton and Marvin Hinton.
