William Donald Allen, 82, of Clarkesville, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Donald was born on April 21, 1943, to the late Fred and Eunice Allen of the Batesville community. He was a loving husband to wife, Patsy G. Allen, for 49 years, and the best dad and Paw Paw, anyone could ask for. He loved his family most of all and was quick to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Donald spent many years running heavy equipment and retired from the Habersham County Road Department after 38 years of service. He enjoyed telling stories about building and maintaining roads in Habersham County and beyond, watching Atlanta Braves games with his friends, and spending time on the farm fishing, riding horses, and gardening.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth, Jake, and Thurmond Allen; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tommy and Betty Garrett. Donald is survived by his wife, Patsy G. Allen, of Clarkes-ville; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Mark Lathan, of Mt. Airy, and Vicky and Mike Sullens, of Alto; brothers and sisters-in-law and sisters and brothers-in-law, Lavelle and Harrison Nix, of Turnerville, Dorothy Thompson, of Clarkesville, Patsy Allen, of Demorest, David and Lynn Allen, of Demorest, and Jeff and Toni Allen, of Batesville; brother-in-law, Rick Garrett, of Snellville; grandchildren and spouses, Cleveland and Devon Coley, of Navarre, Florida, Christopher and Katie Coley, of Valdosta, Emily Sullens, of Alto, and Grayson Sullens and fiancé, Casey Haygood, of Clarkesville; great-grandchildren, Cambria and Kaisen Coley, of Valdosta; and many nieces and nephews that were all his favorites.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, November 14, 2025, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin and McEntire with Pastor Scott Ledbetter and Rev. Tony Goss officiating. Interment will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Batesville.
The family received friends Thursday, November 13, from 6-8 p.m. and will receive Friday from noon until the service hour at funeral home.
Donald will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A special thank you to caregivers, Sommer, Frankie, Kim, Kelly, and Bree for spending so much time with Donald and Pat over the last couple of years and treating them both with such kindness and love.
