Mr. William Prentiss Alliston, age 82, died Friday, July 19, 2024, at his residence in Crystal Springs.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 23 at Chancellor Funeral Home, Florence and again from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 24 also at Chancellor Funeral Home, Florence where the service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Prentiss was a member of First Baptist Church of Crystal Springs. An electrician by trade, he was a member of the I.B.E.W. #480 and had received a service pin celebrating 60 years. He retired from the Jackson Public School system after a long career as an electrician. For a brief time, he put aside his electrical tools, and decided to become a farmer, while he was successful, electricity ran in his veins, so he returned to that trade and eventually retired.

Mr. Alliston loved hunting, reloading ammunition, shooting guns, gardening, and farming, building hunting stands, and most anything related to the outdoors. He also enjoyed CB radios. One of his major passions in life was his family. He loved going to and supporting his grandchildren at their sporting events. He especially enjoyed hunting with his grandson, TJ.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Ilene Alliston, of Crystal Springs; one daughter, Teresa (Todd) Watkins of Crystal Springs; four brothers: Benton Ray Alliston of Florence, Ira Alliston of Florence, Leon (Sandra) Alliston of Birmingham, AL, and Marty (Cheryl) Alliston of Florence; two grandchildren: TJ (Haleigh) Watkins of Mathiston, and Anna Grace Watkins of Crystal Springs; and his three German Shepherds: Gretchen, Floppy, and Puppy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benton B. Alliston, and Velma Jones Alliston.
