William Anderson Obituary

William V. Anderson Jr.

William V. Anderson Jr., age 95, of Blissfield, passed away at home on Monday, February 9th, under the care of Elara Caring Hospice and surrounded by his family.

He was born December 21, 1930, in Dunklin County, Missouri, to Edd and Clara (Jordan) Anderson. Jr., as he liked to be called, was one of eight children. He spent his early years in Senath, Missouri, helping on the family farm.

In 1948 he met Lois Alberta Young when he crashed her senior picnic. They married on February 19, 1949, in Piggott, Arkansas, and were blessed with 73 years together before her passing in 2022.

They relocated to Michigan in 1950 and raised their family here. Jr. was employed at Jeep for 38 years before retiring in 1988. He enjoyed bowling for many years on several teams. He loved working in his garden growing a variety of vegetables which he shared with family and friends. He loved a good game of cards, whether it be pinochle, euchre, poker, or tens. Jr. enjoyed traveling, family gatherings, occasional trips to the casino, and cheering on his favorite sports teams – St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Detroit Lions football, and Indiana Fever basketball. Above all, he loved to make people laugh.

He is survived by his children, Tommy (Cindy) Anderson of Ypsilanti, Marsha (Kirk) Elliott of Blissfield, Robin Bender of Holland, OH, and Brian (Jen) Anderson of Blissfield; one brother, Donald Anderson of Kennett, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Jr. was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta; his parents, Edd and Clara Anderson; his in-laws, Roy and Hazel Young; sisters, Imogene Martin, Omega Lucas, and Charlotte Pack; brothers, Eddie Anderson, Weldon Anderson, and Wally Anderson; daughter-in-law, April Anderson; son-in-law, Tony Bender; granddaughter, Dawn Elliott; grandson, Seymour Singer; and great-granddaughter, Zoey Anderson.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m., at the Marry Funeral Home, Blissfield, MI. Jr.'s funeral will be celebrated on Friday, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with pastor Aden Porter officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Blissfield TWP.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blissfield Senior Center, Elara Caring Hospice, Blissfield Place, or a charity of your choosing.
