William Armstrong Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Eagle Funeral Home - Jonesville Chapel on Dec. 1, 2025.
William "Bill" Armstrong, 83, of Jonesville, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at his home. He was born September 11, 1942, in Loogootee, IN to William and Ruby (Worley) Armstrong.
Bill or Gene, as his family called him, grew up in Wayne, MI. Gene was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Wayne Memorial High School where he was on the swimming team. After high school he was a lifeguard for a summer and then went to Lawerence Tech for a few semesters, before deciding to join the military. He went on to serve his county in the US Navy just prior to the Vietnam conflict as an aircraft mechanic. After returning from the service, he married Mary Kish (divorced in 1986) and had 3 children. He was an active father who instilled a strong work ethic, knowledge of how mechanical items worked, and a healthy skepticism of government. In his spare time, he took his children fishing and swimming on a regular basis. Leaving the metro Detroit area in the early 1980's, for work at Swift Eckrich as a diesel mechanic, he and his family settled in Jonesville where he remained until his passing. After retiring from Swift Eckrich, Gene was a professional in the art of tinkering. He loved taking things apart to see how they worked and putting them back together, he also loved attending auctions and was a cat lover. He was a quiet and solitary man but was always willing to help in any way he could. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include three children, Ann Armstrong of Canton, Matthew (Amy) Armstrong of Tecumseh and Nick Armstrong of Saline; grandchildren, Katelynn Robison, Sarah (Justin) Duong, Hannah (Jake) Sommer, Tatem Ventura, and Rachael and Abby Armstrong; six great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Terry Hebron; and sister-in-law, Ruth Armstrong.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Sandra Hebron and John Armstrong.
A celebration of life for William Armstrong will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home in Jonesville.
