William Baker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel on Jan. 22, 2026.
William Stephen Baker, known to all as "Steve" or "Bake", passed away Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Woodside Village Care Center in Mount Gilead. He was 76 years old.

Steve was born on August 7, 1949, in Grayville, Illinois, to the late Angelo and Eddie Lee (Daniel) Baker. He graduated from Mount Gilead High School with the Class of 1968.

A proud Vietnam Veteran, Steve honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from April 1969 to April 1971.

Creativity was at the heart of who Steve was. An artist by nature, he found joy in music and drawing and spent many years working as a sign painter. A gifted musician, he shared his talents as a member of several bands, including The Lorries and Osage Mud. Some of his happiest moments were spent surrounded by friends and family, making music.

Steve is survived by three Niblings, Kelly Johnigk, Kenny Gregory, and Steve Gregory; nine Great Niblings; three Great-Great Niblings; numerous cousins; and many good friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two Brothers, Angelo Ellis Baker and Stanley Ray Baker, and one sister, Janet Rae (Ken) Gregory.

A Celebration of life will be held on January 24th at 2:00 pm at the Am Vets Post 87, 7825 State Route 61, Galion, Ohio, with military honors provided by the active duty from the US Marine Corp, VFW Post 8054 and AmVets Post 87. Steve will be laid to rest in the family cemetery in Grayville, Illinois.
