William Dean Barnes

William “Willy” Dean Barnes, 47, husband of Doris Mitchell Barnes, Richmond, passed away Monday, March 17, 2025, in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born in Lexington on September 16, 1977, to Brenda Phipps Halcomb and the late Danny Barnes. Willy is survived by his wife, Doris; mother, Brenda; son, William Barnes (Madison); daughters, Angela Darlene Maggard (Steven), Chansey Lee Barnes (Roy), and Presley Johnson (Dakota); brother, Danny Ray Barnes; and sisters, Kathy Barnett (Junior), and Laura Randall (Mark). He was also a loving papaw to eight grandchildren: Raylene Bailey, Lettie Bailey, Oaklynn Barnes, Jewel Smith, Steven Maggard II, Laynee Barnes, Braxton Dean Staniford, and Abigail Smith. In addition to his father, Danny, he is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leroy and Jewel Barnes; and maternal grandparents, Lester and Rilda Phipps. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 22, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor James Barnes and Pastor Rodney Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at the Barnes Family Cemetery in Richmond, Kentucky. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Rhodus, James Mitchell, Michael Barnett, Steven Maggard, William Barnes, and Todd Mitchell. Serving as honorary bearers will be Boone Rutherford, Eddie Marshall, Nathan Barnes, Joe Hall, and James Barnes.
