Mary Hoseclaw Mason peacefully passed into heaven at her home on February 11, 2026, after an extended illness at 90 years old. Mary was the widow of James C. Mason and the wonderful momma to Jan and Kelly. She was born to James Ronder and Maggie Greene Hoseclaw in Pulaski County, the youngest in a large family. She grew up in Lincoln County, graduated from Memorial High School, and married James C. Mason in April 1955. They made their home in Nicholasville, where she taught Sunday School with Ella York for four-year-olds. She was a homemaker who loved reading, doing puzzles, and spending time with her family. Mary leaves behind her two children, Janice Lynn (Roger) Donahue, and James Kelly (Mimi) Mason, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren to mourn her passing. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Adeline Derryberry, Francis (Gabe) Coe, Veda (Lester) Padgett, Hester (Ollis) Hardwic, two brothers, James (Maxine) Ellis, and Orville (Mary) Hoseclaw, and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. Mary has also left behind her friend and caregiver, Karen Morrow, whom she dearly loves. Services will be 12:00 PM Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Bearers will be Roger Donahue, Kelly Mason, Nick Clark, Chad Donahue, Kevin Donahue, and Wayne Gray. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Tuesday.
