Pastor William James Baymon Sr. departed this life at the age of 86, on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center, in
Springfield, MA. Born in Itta Bena, Mississippi, he is the son of the late George Baymon Sr. and the late Louella (Robinson) Baymon. He is predeceased by Fanneree (McGraw) Baymon, his wife of almost 63 years.
William, also known as Pastor Baymon, was a 73-year resident of Springfield who touched many lives. Without solicitation, he would secretly provide financial support to churches in need, expecting nothing in return. People in the Christian community as well as in other circles often praised him for his kindness, humility, and unwavering integrity. As a man of faith with a real love for God and people, he pastored the Whole Truth Temple COGIC for 35 years. His parishioners adored him because he exuded compassion, and approachability. He was truly a servant-leader. At each church service, he skillfully played his guitar with a powerful anointing, releasing an old-school Mississippi sound. Under his leadership, Whole Truth Church built a beautiful, new edifice in 1998, and paid off the mortgage in 2018.
Pastor Baymon was a beloved family man. He worked at United Technologies for over 30 years, consistently providing for his household. God blessed him to manage his money well enough to help his relatives and friends when they experienced financial difficulty. Everyone loved to be around him. He was warm and welcoming to those who called or visited him. His sense of humor filled his home with joy and laughter. His children highly praised and respected him. His grandchildren gave him the utmost honor. His youngest great-grandchildren loved going to their Papa's house because they had so much fun playing with him. A lot of his nieces and nephews called him their favorite uncle. Some even saw him as a father figure. Though he is no longer here physically, all the precious memories will keep him alive in the heart.
His wonderful life will forever be cherished by his three children: Pastor Mark Baymon Sr. (wife, Johnetta), Angela Burns (husband, Pastor Tracy Burns), and William Baymon Jr. (wife, Tracey); 10 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 1 great, great grandchild; his sisters: Ida Thomas and Mildred Price; his brothers: Pastor Fred Baymon and Deacon Clarence Baymon; his sisters-in-law: Pastor Natha Burton and Patricia Burton; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
The calling hours are 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Macedonia Church Of God In Christ, followed by funeral services at 11, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
