William Beckham Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shives Funeral Home - Trenholm Road Chapel on Feb. 23, 2026.
William Dennis Beckham, a.k.a Dink/Dinky, age 70, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, after an extended battle with Parkinsons Disease.

Dink was predeceased by his father, Richard Dewitt Beckham: his mother, Nina Vivian Calvitt Beckham Sharpe; and his brother, Wayne Beckham.

He is survived by his nephew, Jason Wayne Beckham (Paola); his niece, Jennifer Kleine; & his three great nieces, Hannah Lucas, & Millie & Jada Beckham.

Dink retired from the South Carolina Department of Transportation, where he was employed as a Geotech supervisor. His joys in life came from his avid hunting & outdoor adventures. He enjoyed his frequent self-desired social isolation time, allowing for his love of reading. He often expressed his sense of humor, he was liked by many, he engaged in conversations & enjoyed discussions while sharing his life experiences & self-obtained knowledge. He lived his life on his own terms.

Through the supportive care received from the caregiver agency of Hope, Love & Compassionate Care, as well as several different hospice agencies over the last few years, Dink was able to remain in his home as he desired for his end-of-life care.

Per his expressed desires, there will be no funeral services. He would often state, "When I'm gone, I'm gone, just remember me while I'm here".

The family appreciates all the supportive care from individuals, the years of relationships experienced by Dink, among friends, family, & co-workers. Dink will be remembered as an individual who was matter of fact & kind. He did have a relationship with Jesus Christ. May those who are Christ believers be reminded of a future great reunion in days to come through the promises of our Gods eternal home of Heaven.
