BENJAMIN, William "Victor" A Life of Purpose and Distinction William Victor Benjamin, entrepreneur, business leader, and educator, died February 7, 2026, at age 78. Born in Montserrat, West Indies, son of James and Eliza (Skerritt) Benjamin, his formative years were in Montserrat, Antigua and St. Kitts. As a teenager, he moved to Boston under the care of his Aunt Catherine "Kate" Skerritt, who emphasized his concentration on further education. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, Master of Engineering, Manufacturing from Boston University, completed the Harvard University Administrative Fellowship Program, and participated in Dartmouth College's Senior Executive Management Development Program. In later years, he served as an adjunct professor at Cambridge College, Northeastern University, and Roxbury Community College, teaching management, marketing, finance and economics. William Benjamin, president and founder of B&M Technology Services, was formally recognized by both the White House and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for his leadership and achievements. In 1986, he and his company were named Minority Business Contractor of the Year by the U.S. Department of the Army. In 1987, Governor Michael Dukakis honored him as New England Prime Contractor of the Year. That same year, the U.S. Small Business Administration awarded him both the Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year and the Administrator's Award for Excellence. He also was recognized with the Boston Federal Executive Board Minority Enterprise of the Year. Later, Governor Deval Patrick appointed him a Commissioner of the Massachusetts Aeronautics Commission. He served as a director at the Montessori Family Center, the William B. Price Memorial Unit of the American Cancer Society, and the Jewish Vocational Services Microenterprise Division. He also advised Senator Ted Kennedy's Small Business Task Force and contributed to both White House and Massachusetts small business conferences. He was adventurous and determined. He became a licensed pilot, fulfilling childhood dreams of flight. He drove across America, traveled to Central Europe, and explored life with the same intensity he brought to every challenge. He sang in the choir, he danced at celebrations, he loved chess, literature, jazz, and classical music, and he shared those passions generously with everyone around him. He cared deeply for small things, too. He tended to his plants. Often sharing pictures of new hibiscus flowers with words of encouragement meant to uplift. Known as Victor by his family, he was a husband of 52 years to Joan "Lynn" Benjamin; a father, brother, uncle, and mentor and to many a foundation and inspiration. He is survived by his children, Rowan and Devaun Benjamin, daughter-in-law, Gina Benjamin; brothers, Randolph "Randy" and Max Benjamin; and a large extended family. He joins his predeceased wife, Joan; sister and best friend, Althea Kirnon; and brother, Conrad Benjamin. Benjamin's life reflected both accomplishment and character, a man who blazed ahead, lived fully and left the world stronger through his work, generosity and example.
