William “Bill” Miller Archer, age 76 of Hohenwald, TN went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 14, 2023.
Bill was born in Gadsden, AL on September 4, 1947, son of the late Robert Durwood & Mary (Miller) Archer.
He graduated from Huntsville High School. Bill was co-owner of Archer Plumbing LLC working in utility work for many years. He also was very proud that he and his Dad laid over 1000 miles of gas line in Alabama. When he came to Tennessee, he worked for Nashville Gas for many years.
Bill was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the United States Air Force. He was an Eagle Scout and a Mason. Bill was also a member of VFW Post 4969, American Legion Post 19, Post 19 Rider’s Association, Elks Lodge 686 and 2883, EWMA (GWRRA) Chapter Z and TN District.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah (Debbie) Archer and his Mother and Father. His sister, Joan Archer passed away on his birthday this year, in September.
Survivors include his loving partner of 6 years, Deborah (Debb) Boatner; his son, JD Sweeney and wife Amanda, and daughter Angie Sweeney. He is also survived by his brother, Bob Archer (Selma). Bill left behind 2 granddaughters, Addison and Sarah Sweeney. Nephews, Keith and Todd Archer survive him.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Franklin, TN where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor JP Cannon officiating.
Bill loved ice cream, adventure, travel, motorcycles/slingshots, family, friends. And he loved to laugh. Bill was thoughtful, giving, and kind. He was gentle and loving. He was well-liked and well-loved. Bill was always wanting to do for others. And he didn’t ask for anything in return. Others might refer to JD and Angie as his stepchildren. Bill referred to them as his children. He loved his kids and grandkids endlessly. Bill wanted to be remembered as a good Dad and Granpa. And, he was a wonderful mate to his partner, Debb.
Burial will follow in Taylor Cemetery.
Family will serve as pallbearers: Shawn Evans, Peyton Evans, Wayland Evans, Dirk Pewitt, Quentin Pewitt, Devin Newell, Allen “Rocky” Cole, Brant Bennett.
Honorary Pallbearers: Tommy Carroll, Herschel Anderson, Charlie Morton and James Smithson.
Expression of sympathy may take the form of donations to Lewis County Elks Lodge #2883, 416 Swiss Colony Rd., Hohenwald, TN 38462 in loving memory of William Miller Archer.
