William Kronenberg

William (Bill) Kronenberg, known affectionately to many in Carlisle as "Doc," passed away peacefully at his home on July 19, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and community leader, Bill leaves behind his beloved wife, JoAnne Kronenberg; three sons, William (Lola), Christopher, and Andrew (Amy); daughter, Erin; and grandson, Harrison. He was predeceased by another son, Steven. Bill's love for family was matched only by his deep and abiding commitment to the town of Carlisle, where he lived a life of service, generosity, and good humor. Bill spent more than two decades serving on the Carlisle Borough Council, including time as Mayor, where his dedication to the town's safety and wellbeing was unwavering. He was especially devoted to the Carlisle Police and Fire Departments, supporting them not just in policy, but in spirit and friendship. He was also well known as the owner of Smith's Appliance, where for more than 40 years he greeted generations of Carlisle families with his signature smile, a story or two, and an unmatched willingness to lend a helping hand. Away from work and public service, Bill found joy in sprint car racingat one point owning his own teamand in peaceful days fishing with friends at the family cabin in Maine. Whether in the heart of Carlisle or deep in the woods of Maine, Bill brought warmth, humor, and a contagious zest for life. Those who knew Bill will remember a man who was loving, kind, and full of wit. He lived faithfully in service to others and to the Carlisle community he held so dear. A celebration of Bill's life will be held on September 14, 2025, from 12:00-3:00 p.m. at Elks Lodge No. 0578 in Carlisle.
