William (Bill) Shepard Lindblad was born to Ruth Harriet Shepard and Carl Arthur Lindblad in Buffalo, New York, April 13, 1928 and died on June 10, 2024 in Willoughby, Ohio

He attended Moses Brown School in Rhode Island (Class of ‘45 voted most liked) where he enjoyed playing football both offensively and defensively for his school!  Continuing on in Yale (Class of ‘48) with a BS in Industrial Administration, he fondly remembers beating Harvard in intramural football.

Bill retired as the Cleveland Branch Manager from AMICA Insurance Co. after 41 years of service diligently attending to his customers.

He embraced civic activities such as Rotary for 30 plus years and was granted honorary membership, Junior Achievement, Cleveland Jr. Chamber of Commerce, and worked tirelessly within the Goodrich and Bell Social Settlements. He was awarded the Outstanding Volunteer for the Public Schools of Cleveland.

He was a loving father to 4 close-in-age children, an avid gardener and coin collector, and he thoroughly researched and shared his genealogy findings.  He golfed and bowled until Covid. When golfing, he claimed he got his money’s worth because of all the swings he made!

As an elder for The Fairmount Presbyterian Church and Church of the Western Reserve, Bill provided mentorship and expertise later as treasurer for The Church of the Western Reserve.

Bill is remembered for his generous spirit, love of cookie baking and sharing, corny jokes, fondness for Wii bowling, jigsaw puzzles, winning at Dominos, and above all his kindness. The motto of Rotary is “Service above Self” which he exemplified!

He is preceded in death by his wife, Molly Lindblad and daughter, Sharon Wilson. He is survived by 3 children, Catherine (Ed) Ketel, Robert (Donna Brown) Lindblad, Anne (David Quanbeck) Lindblad, and stepchildren Lisa (John Lombardi) Van Curen, Paul Van Curen, and David (Mary DiGeronimo) Van Curen, 12 grandchildren, Annessa (Reid) Anderson, Tanner (Abby) Ketel, Michael (Tami) Wilson, Erica Wilson, George (Stephanie) Lindblad, Karl Lindblad, Katherine Lindblad, Caroline (David Kircos) Quanbeck, Annika Quanbeck, Morgan Van Curen, Matt Van Curen, Molly Van Curen, and 8 great grandchildren, Alaira Anderson, Kenley Anderson, Kamden Ketel, Kaylyn Ketel, Bodhi Lindblad, Baby Girl on the way Lindblad, Kinsley Van Curen,  Finn Bender.
