William Jones Wright, age 94 of Chatfield, passed away at his home on February 11, 2025.
Bill was born on March 12, 1930 in Preston, the son of Edward and Olive (nee Johnson) Wright. He attended school in the Lanesboro/Preston area. Following his education, Bill worked for Patterson Quarry in St. Charles. On June 26, 1954 Bill and Mary Jean Julian were united in marriage in Chatfield. The couple raised five children together. In 1967 Bill began hauling livestock and farmed in the Chatfield area. As his sons grew, they joined him in hauling grain and freight. Bill farmed and did custom combining until he was 90.
He loved horses, attending auctions, fishing, hunting, playing cards, puzzles and having coffee with friends. Bill loved to roller skate and was known for his one-liners, sense of humor and his delight in planning fun adventures at the last minute for his family.
He will be sadly missed by his children Paul of Chatfield, Bill (Cindy) of Chatfield, Deb (Jim) of Eyota, Dale of Iowa and Tracey (Richard) Pagel of Stewartville, 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Jean in 2020, his daughter-in-law Sandra Wright in 2023, 4 sisters, and one grandson in 1981.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.at the Chatfield United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Visitation will be held at the Hoff Funeral Home of Chatfield on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. and again at the church one hour prior to services.
Burial will take place in the Chatfield Cemetery following services on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
