Mr. William Thomas Bishop, age 90, of Buchanan passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Thomas was born in Haralson County, Georgia, on March 10, 1936. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Norma Kimball Bishop, his parents, Hezekiah and Mary Vessie Garner Bishop, sister Betty Bishop Bennett, brothers, George Bishop, Horace Bishop, Charles Bishop, Homer Bishop, Walter Bishop, and Kenneth Bishop.
Thomas is survived by his second wife, Betty Bishop, son, Richard (Pam) Bishop, daughter Cindy (Steve) Worthy, grandchildren, Lance (Jennifer) Maxwell, Chad Bishop, Kristen (Brandon) Barnes, Jessica (Jared) Pervis, Amy (Brian) LeHeup, great grandchildren, Temperance Barnes, Lincoln Barnes, Hudson Barnes, Adeline Pervis, Avery LeHeup, and Blakely LeHeup, and sister, Lorene Heath.
Thomas was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from General Motors in 1989 after 30 years of service. Thomas was "Grandpa" to his grandchildren and loved spending time with his family. In addition, he enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, gardening and water skiing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 11:00 A.M., from First Baptist Church, Buchanan, with Dr. Allen Wilburn and Reverend Richard Brannon officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
