Bix, William
EAST GREENBUSH - William Bix, 87, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
William was born in Albany, N.Y., the son of the late Theodore and Wilhelmina (Betz) Bix.
His interests included fishing, taking in stray animals, and spending time with his family. He loved old country music and watching the Yankees play. He often ended the day with a dip in the pool.
He worked as a cook at Montgomery Ward, and later retired as a machinist and pipefitter for Sterling Winthrop.
Survivors include daughters, Denise M. (Walter) Koonz, Sandra B. (Stephen) Fahrenkopf, and Rosemarie (Kevin) Kelly; son, William T. (Kerrie) Bix; in-laws, Shirley Bix, Mary Wilkinson, Gina Catalfamo, Cathy Catalfamo-Delesio, Vince (Margaret) Catalfamo, and Anthony Catalfamo; grandchildren, Cassandra (Anthony) Roy, Austin (Andrea) Fahrenkopf, Cody (Dolores) Koonz, Amber (Tyler) Baldwin, Kevin (Alicia) Kelly, Kirsten Kelly, and Cameron Bix; and great-grandchildren, Anthony, Libby, Ella, Samuel, Theodore, and Isla.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rose R. (Catalfamo) Bix; brother, Theodore Bix; sister, Carol (Alan) Legg; and in-laws, Charles (Kathy) Catalfamo; Nelson Wilkinson; Phil Catalfamo, and Dominic Catalfamo.
Friends and family are invited to call Wednesday, September 17, from 4 to 7 p.m., in the W. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 18, in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in William's memory may be made to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, mohawkhumane.org/index.php/donate
