William J. "Bill" Bleck

William J. "Bill" Bleck, 63, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 22, 2024, after a long illness. Born on February 24, 1961, Bill was a lifelong resident of Lake County, growing up in Lake Bluff. He attended Lake Forest High School, where he formed lasting friendships.
Bill pursued higher education at Northern Michigan University and the University of Kansas before returning to Lake Forest to begin a distinguished career in land surveying. A highly respected surveyor, he dedicated over 40 years to his work at Bleck Engineering.
From an early age, Bill had a deep love for the outdoors and nature. He enjoyed countless fishing trips to the Boundary Waters and Canada with friends, as well as backpacking and camping in national parks. During his younger years, he even raised pet raccoons. Bill also had a passion for music and was an avid sports fan, loyally supporting the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, and White Sox through every season. In recent years, he found joy in spending time with his loyal dog, Sadie, and connecting with friends at the dog park.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John "Jack" Bleck (2019) and Marilyn "Lynn" Bleck (2016). He is survived by his siblings: Terri, Donna (Thom Beeson), Patrick (Diane), Jeanne (Tracy Xelowski), Michael (Corrinne), Jack (Carol), Kathleen (Paul Burgener), Timothy (Hillary), and Lynn Marie.
A Celebration of Bill's Life will take place on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Gorton Community Center, 400 Illinois Road, Lake Forest, IL. Interment will be private at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville.
