William Block Obituary
Beloved father of William R. "Bill" (Cheryl) Block of Plainfield and Jeffrey Block of Wheaton, IL, adored grandfather of Samuel and Joseph Block, devoted son of the late William and Margaret (nee Bahne) Block, dear brother of Cathy Block of Spokane, WA, former spouse of Joan (the late Dieter) Dietrich of Frankfort, IL and Nancy Scrementi of Lockport, IL, fond steppa and friend of many.
Bill loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them. Like his sister Cathy, Bill loved to garden, spending many months planning for his spring plantings. He had a long, successful career working at Sears Roebuck - rising from a local store manager to various leadership positions during his long tenure.
Bill was also a dedicated sports fan, following his Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs closely each year. Earlier in his life, Bill pitched for the Drake Bulldogs and taught both of his boys to play baseball and the values of teamwork, determination and hard work.
A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024, 12:00-3:00 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Rd., Plainfield, IL 60544.
Interment will be private.

You will be missed so much Bill! I miss talking to you and catching up up on the family. Who will I ask my gardening questions now? Hoping you are at peace now with family and friends who welcomed you with their angel wings. Rest in peace friend. Xo
