Father William P. Blottman, 91, of Fall River, MA passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at the Cardinal Medeiros Residence for Retired Priest.

Born on April 7, 1934 in Pelham, NY he was the son of late John B. and Kathryn M. (Williams) Blottman.

After graduation from Attleboro High School in 1953, he earned a Bachelor's Degree from Holy Cross College in Worcester in 1957. He served in the Army for two years before entering St. Philip Neri School, Boston, then St. John's Seminary, Brighton, to prepare for the priesthood. Father Blottman was ordained on Feb. 13, 1965 by the late Bishop James L. Connolly in St. Mary's Cathedral, Fall River.

Fr. Blottman was a Roman Catholic Priest for the Fall River Diocese from 1965-2026 and was a resident and priest of many towns and cities. A resident of Pelham, NY from 1934-1939, Auburndale, MA from 1940-1944, Barrington, RI from 1945-1946, Attleboro, MA from 1946-1959, Brighton, MA from 1960-1965, Holy Family Parish, Taunton, MA from 1965-1967, St. Mary's Parish, North Attleboro, MA from 1968-1970, St. Joseph Parish, Fall River from 1970-1971, St. Mary's Parish, South Dartmouth, MA from 1971-1983, St. Rita Parish, Marion, MA from 1983-1991, St. Peter's Parish, Provincetown, MA from 1992-1994, Immaculate Conception Parish, Taunton, MA from 1995-2000, Catholic Memorial Chaplain, Fall River, MA from 2000-2009 and Cardinal Medeiros Residence, Fall River, MA from 2000-2026.

He retired in 2009 but served as needed until 2024.

Fr. Blottman was on the Board of Directors for Lighthouse Hospice from 1988 to 1993 and enjoyed time with family, traveling with his sisters, sailing and watching sports and old movies.

He is survived by two sisters; Joan L. Kenton of Attleboro, MA and Ruth K. Chippendale of Mountainview, CA; nieces and nephews, Joan L. Koesterherm of N. Andover, MA, John B. Blottman, III also of N. Andover, MA, Peter F. Blottman of Melbourne, FL, Chuck McCormack of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Christine Cimmino of Damascus, PA, John McCormack of Saco, ME, Judy Vaughan of Wanaque, NJ, Jeanie Seiler of Damascus, PA, Peter McCormack of Campbell Hall, NJ, Anne Chippendale of Tahoe, CA, Mary Kay Benz of Mukilteo, WA, Thomas Chippendale of Sunnyvale, CA, Steve Kenton of New York, NY, Kathryn Hohl of Atherton, CA, and Margaret Kenton Wong of Venice, FL; 15 grand nieces and nephews and 12 great grand nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Sr. Rosemary Blottman, John B. Blottman, Jr. and Elizabeth "Betty" (Blottman) McCormack.

The family would like to send a special thank you to his caregivers, especially Judi, Susan and Denise, as well as the staff and priests at Cardinal Medeiros Residence for all their care, love and prayers.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM in the St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main St., Attleboro, MA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026 in St. John the Evangelist Church at 10:00AM. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, 165 West St., Attleboro, MA.
