William Donald Bollenbaugh, age 63, of St. Joseph, MO passed away at 8:11 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026 as a result of a motor vehicle accident in St. Joseph. Bill was born on October 17, 1962 in Webster City, IA, the son of William Jay Bollenbaugh and Patricia Lyn (Evilsizer) Bollenbaugh.

Bill attended Forreston High School in Forreston, IL. He served his country in the United States Navy from January 17, 1983 to January 16, 1987. Command the USS Waddel DDDG-24, rank E4, SM3, PETTY OFFICER 3RD CLASS. He received Meritorious Unit Commendation and Sea Service Deployment of which he was very proud of. On March 30, 1998, he married his best friend, Rhonda Lee Cleveland.

Bill retired from St. Joe Wireless on February 27, 2026, where he was a wireless internet manager. He was looking forward to long visits with his children, family, and some lifelong friends.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman; he loved fishing and hunting. He had even been known to live completely off the land for a time or two. He was a history buff, especially learning about the civil war. Bill loved food and was a talented cook, making the best guacamole and smoked brisket ever. He also enjoyed taking his beloved Etta Pearl (Giant Schnauzer) out for drives listening to southern rock and hunting for antique treasures with Rhonda. Bill was also a devout Cubs and Bears fan. He enjoyed family history and genealogy; he traced his family lines as far back as possible. Bill always had plenty of stories-some of which were even true.

Bill leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Rhonda Bollenbaugh; daughter, Airion Bollenbaugh (Greg) and her daughter, Ahlya of Palestine, IL; daughter, Savannah Bollenbaugh and her daughters, Alannah and Ali of Robinson, IL; son, Zachariah Bollenbaugh (August) and his children, Kiah, Nallie, Chloe, and Charlie Grace of Greenup IL and Jayton of Neoga, IL; brother, Jason Bollenbaugh of Nashville TN; sisters, Jody McKnight of WI and Angela Barrow of CA; stepmother, Nancy Bollenbaugh of Casey IL; in-laws, John and Cheryl Cleveland of Shelbyville, IL; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and some very close lifelong friends. Bill is proceeded in death by his parents; his brother, Rob Mueller; and his beloved yellow lab of 16 years, Chubbs.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Joey Harryman officiating. Burial will follow in the Vernon Addition Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Family requests casual dress, wear your favorite T-shirt in true Bill fashion.
