William Roger Bond

William Roger Bond (Bill), 82, of Magnolia, Delaware, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, following a heart attack while enjoying one of his favorite activities—riding his bicycle.

Bill was born in Mansfield, Massachusetts, to Ruby Mae Aiken and William Roger Bond. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, launching a distinguished engineering career. Bill raised his family in Pasadena, Maryland.

As a Lead Engineer at ManTech/NSI Technology Services Corporation, Bill made significant contributions to space exploration, working at both Goddard Space Flight Center and Kennedy Space Center. His engineering expertise played a vital role in the development of the Hubble Space Telescope and in designing and building clean rooms used for satellite manufacturing.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bill was a man of many passions. He found joy in cycling, sailing, hiking, and photography, often combining these interests to explore and capture the beauty of the natural world. He had a particular fascination with trains and was an avid sports enthusiast.

Bill's commitment to his community was evident in his volunteer work at Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge and as a member of the Champions' Club at Jonathan's Landing Community. He was also a dedicated youth soccer coach, sharing his love of the game while coaching his children's teams and inspiring countless young athletes.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Ann-Marie Bond, and his three children: Karen and her husband Cary Lehman, Tim and his wife Damara Bond, and Suzanne and her husband Jim Schmidt. He was a cherished grandfather to Chris, Lexi, and Sydney Lehman, Carmen and Zachary Bond, and Emma and Jake Schmidt.

The family will receive visitors at Rogers Hovatter Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, from 11AM to 1PM on Wednesday July 9th, with a funeral service at 1PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Chesapeake, 8325 Ventnor Road, Pasadena, MD, at 10AM on Saturday July 12th.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, 2591 Whitehall Neck Road, Smyrna, DE 19977-2912.
