William Charles (Bill) Bowman, born July 9, 1945 – May 28, 2025.
Bill loved chasing fire trucks as a child, when he was old enough he joined District Height Volunteer Fire Department as a Cadet in 1962. In 1964 he became a regular Volunteer Fireman at District Heights.
In 1968 he was the first “contract” Firefighter for Princes George’s County until he retired in December 1984. Forestville was his last duty station. Upon retire he became a volunteer and lifetime member at Forestville Volunteer Fire Department with over 40 years of service.
His interests include an antique Fire Truck that won several awards when he participated in parades.
After Bill retired from the fire department in 1984, he started driving for Entwisle Block. In 1996 he bought the truck from them and started his own business. In 2010 he started driving for Ernest Maier until he retired in 2015.
Bill loved to travel, he took his first airplane ride in 2000, went on his first cruise in 2004, and loved to visit light houses, the beach, and many other places.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years Diana (Dee) Bowman, 2 sons (William (Billy) A. Bowman (Dawn) Billy’s wife) Michael P. Bowman from a prior marriage and a stepson Jonathan W. Carlock, his wife (Jessica), 4 granddaughters, Kaitlynn Bowman, Victoria Raney, Emily Reese Bowman, Harper Faye Carlock and 5 great grandchildren, Brogan, Tobilynn, Caspen, Parker Rose, Madison James.
The family will receive friends at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm where a Funeral Service will be held a 7:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be private.
