William “Bill” Furman Bowman, age 76, of Franklin, North Carolina, passed away on December 21, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was marked by hard work, service, faith, and deep love for his family.
Bill was born to John Britt Bowman and Patricia Louise Cope Bowman and was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles Wendell Bowman.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Joyce Bowman, a testament to their enduring love and commitment. He is also survived by his brother, Morlan Bowman (Helen), and his sister, Mary Sears (Guy).
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army, an experience that shaped his strong sense of duty and perseverance. Following his military service, he spent most of his working life as a contractor in Franklin, NC, where he was known for his craftsmanship, integrity, and strong work ethic.
He was a loving father to his two children: Amanda Cochran (Josh) and Michael Bowman (Heidi). He was a proud grandfather to Britt Cochran (Chloe), Caleb Cochran (Hanna), Hunter Bowman, and Peyton Bowman, and a joyful great-grandfather to Pax Cochran and Beaux Cochran. He also has several nieces and nephews.
Bill found great joy in the outdoors and could often be found hunting and fishing, pursuits he deeply cherished. He also loved singing gospel music, a passion that reflected his faith and brought comfort and joy to those around him.
William “Bill” Furman Bowman will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, and the lasting legacy of love he leaves behind in his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 28th, from 11:30am-1:30pm at Macon Funeral Home. Service will follow at 1:30pm in the Chapel. Burial will be in the Ellijay Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
