William G. Broderick

William G. (Bill) Broderick, 78, of Abington, MA passed away January 2, after a brief stay in hospice. Born in Quincy, MA on June 20, 1947, to Barbara (Nissen) and Dr. Joseph A. Broderick, Bill was the youngest of three children. His parents and siblings Patricia A. Ayotte (Mill Valley, CA) and Joseph A. (Chip) Broderick, Jr. (Weymouth, MA) predeceased him. Bill is survived by his wife Pamela J. Muirhead (Abington, MA) and his daughter, Kelly Broderick Bertsch, her husband Harry (Skip) Bertsch, and their sons, Logan and Christian (Marysville, CA). Bill was also predeceased by Kelly's baby Kaitlyn Bertsch and Kelly's mom, Patricia A. (Connors) Broderick (Weymouth MA).
Bill's love of cars began in high school and, after returning from serving in the US Navy and Reserves as a cook, he began work as an auto body technician, the tools of which he kept until he died. It was during his final job, driving dementia patients for a Weymouth daycare, that Bill was able to truly shine, using his quiet and gentle people skills.
Bill enjoyed many lifelong friendships. He was an avid golfer and loved watching the Patriots. He had a memory like a steel trap, great for Sudoku and other games. His early appreciation for music kept him singing along to radio tunes as he cooked. Bill and Pam enjoyed creating an outdoor environment that not only welcomed birds and forest critters but was also a grand playground for their dogs and a happy gathering place for family and friends.
A burial and celebration of life will take place at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy MA, on his birthday. Donations by Venmo: Norwell VNA Hospice and Last Hope K-9 Rescue.
