William Brooks Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 9, 2024.
William Leo Brooks of Taylor, Texas passed away on February 7th, 2024 surrounded by family and friends at Ascension Seton Hospital in Round Rock, Texas.
William was born March 11th, 1938 on a dairy farm near Buda, Texas to Leo Vaughn Brooks and Valree Conner Brooks. The family later moved to Liberty Hill, Texas, where William would spend most of his years growing up. After graduating from Liberty Hill High School, William served in the 49th Armored Division of the Texas National Guard. He was immensely proud to have served his country.
When he was not attending church services at Church of Christ, William could be found fishing or hunting. He had many stories about his experiences whilst deer hunting or fishing out on the lake. Boating was also a passion of his and spent many summers enjoying the hill country, primarily water skiing. His happy place was his cabin on Lake Mathis, near Corpus Christi, where he would enjoy nature and the weather.
William Brooks was predeceased in death by his parents, Leo V. Brooks and Valree Conner Brooks.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Frances Vavra Brooks, and his favorite canine companion, Sarah Angel Brooks; his sister-in-law, Tela Henna, and a multitude of cousins and close friends.
William was an amazing, sweet and generous man who was blessed with a great many friends and family members. He will be sorely missed.
