He was born in Hebron, Nebraska and moved to Holland in 1970. He was a veteran of the Navy serving during the Vietnam War. He worked for Bohn Aluminum for 20 years and then retired from Consumers Energy following 20 years of employment.
Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Ellen Haasjes and a grandson, Austin Brown, and his furry companion of 12 years, Maggie.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy; children, Troy Brown of Burnips, Teressa and Ricky Curtiss of Allegan; grandchildren, Jesse Brown, Haylie Curtiss, Hanna Curtiss, Holly Curtiss; in-laws, George Haasjes, Eva (Dave) De Ridder, Mark Olin; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services with military honors will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State St. Zeeland. Visitation will be 5-7 pm. on Friday, February 7, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to VFW Henry Walters Post 2144 or the American Legion Post #6.
