William Brox Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boston Cremation - Malden Care Center on Jan. 4, 2026.
William "Bill" Harry Brox, 64, Waterville Valley, NH, previously of Dracut and Methuen, MA left his family, peacefully, on December 29, 2025, with his devoted daughters, Georgia and Sophia, and siblings by his side. His time here ended far too soon but was marked with strength and a life well lived!
Bill was born on January 15, 1961 in Lawrence, MA, to Raymond L. Brox and Dorothea L. (Kaatz) Brox. He attended Dracut High but graduated from Gould Academy, Bethel, ME. He also completed his Bachelor of Science in Management from Boston College ('85).
With no surprise to anyone who knew Bill, he was named Captain of the Boston College Ski-racing team and brought that team to the Nationals with his beautiful and talented skiing style. While at BC, he met Julie (Santaniello) Brox, mother to their four children. They lost twins, Zoe Nancy and Raymond Richard, but raised two remarkable young women, Georgia (25) and Sophia (22) (both of Salem, MA) who forever remained the apples of Bill's eye.
Successful at all he endeavored, Bill had an insatiable appetite for learning and enjoyed many distinct hobbies. He had strength in body and spirit and his hobbies reflected that.
Bill enjoyed his time outdoors, mainly on the mountains of Waterville Valley, NH and Sun Valley, ID, skiing, hiking, camping, and bicycle riding. In typical "Bill-style", his bike interest led him to not only pedal thousands of miles across many states and countries, but to also study and learn customized bike-building. Both friends and family alike have handmade and unique "Brox Cycles". A lover of both Visual and Performing Arts, Bill was a self-taught guitarist who built up a varied collection of instruments. He loved the sound of old vinyl and tube amps while playing guitar and enjoying a scotch in the evening. Even during his advanced illness, Bill's greatest joy was playing live music with his friends. Bill was not only an accomplished downhill racer/skier, but he also enjoyed and excelled in cross-country skiing, proudly winning Gould's "Ski-Meister Award" in his youth. For years, Bill coached his daughters (and many others), with his uniquely combined, traditional, but fun-loving style, in both recreational and competitive skiing. He loved spending time with his daughters, especially if he could teach them something new. He golfed with them and even worked the family farm for a time.his young daughters by his side.
Bill's one of a kind personality and zest for life was shared generously with all who knew him. He built a successful paving business that employed many over the years. You could find him day or night, winters and summers alike, tinkering with either his paving equipment or his bicycles at the Pavex garage. And, as Bill always said, "never had a bad day"!
Bill worked as hard as any man could for his family but he enjoyed his time away with them even more. Bill's generosity was most easily seen when he welcomed others to his family's campsite. There are few friends or family members that didn't share at least one beautiful weekend under the stars at his beloved "Camp Jawbone" along the Mad River in Waterville Valley. There, time would stand still, as Bill, family, and friends went off the grid chopping wood, cooking over the fire-pit, playing music, learning archery, biking the trails, riding the river's rapids, hiking to hidden waterfalls, and sleeping under the stars. Bill was proudly at the helm for all of it!
Left to cherish the memories of his remarkable presence in our lives are his daughters, Georgia and Sophia, their mother Julie, siblings Eric Brox (Debra), Nancy Brox, Peter Brox, an extended family of cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, co-workers and friends from all walks of life. He was predeceased by his father Raymond Brox, mother, Dorothea Brox, and many Aunts and Uncles that meant the world to him.
Bill's generous life, and premature passing, have affected all who still love him dearly.
Family, friends, business colleagues and co-workers that were touched by the constant glint in Bill's eye, and his easy ways, are invited to join us:
"Celebration of Life" Sunday, January 18, 2026 From 12:00PM to 5:00PM Four Oaks Country Club 1 Clubhouse Lane Dracut, MA 01826 (to be held in place of traditional calling hours or funeral services)

Shocked, saddened and sorry to hear of Bills passing. I met him at Gould Academy and helped Bill get going on playing guitar / inspire him with the ways of the Fender Telecaster Guitar. I recently reconnected with Bill and was looking forward to getting together in February and do some skiing. Bill was a fantastic skier it was always hard to keep up with Bill on Down Hill or X-Country skis. I remember thinking I was having a good day of skiing if I could keep up with Bill. My condolences to Bills family, life is too short and I miss the opportunity to see Bill one more time.

Bill was a great human being in every sense of the word. I truly enjoyed every interaction I had with him over the years. Such a pleasant guy. He was so easy to do business with or to just have a conversation. He really had great values and high character. I am grateful to have known him. I am so sorry for your loss.
