It is with great sadness that the family of William E. Burns, Jr. announce his passing after a long battle with Dementia on Friday October 18, 2019 at the age of 83 with loved ones by his side. Bill was born on July 2, 1936 in Boston, MA to William and Mabel (Sheehan) Burns. He joined the United States Coast Guard and went to explore the Arctic in 1957. Bill was an avid Bruins and Red Sox fan. He loved to tell a good story, had quick wit and humor, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who may have needed it. Bill will always be greatly loved and missed. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years Wilma; five sons, William and wife Nancy, Richard and wife Jeri, Patrick, Joseph and wife Vicki, Shawn and wife Marianne; daughter, Cherylann and husband Dale; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel and Lillian; and brother, Bobby. Bill was preceded in death by his father William, his mother Mabel, his brothers John and Francis. ARRANGEMENTS: Services will be held privately.
