William Cammet

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of William Cammet on March 26, 2026, in Brownsville, Texas.

Bill was a kind, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Born on May 21, 1947, in Saline, MI where he spent most of his life. He was a graduate of Saline High School, a Navy Sea Bee and a Vietnam Veteran. Bill retired after having a successful career as a bus mechanic for the Saline Area Schools.

Bill was a gentle soul with a kind heart and a great smile. He was always ready to help anyone in need.

A devoted husband to his wife, Carol, with whom he shared almost 47 years of marriage. Together they raised two sons, whom he was very proud of: Kevin (Wendy) Cammet of Caledonia, MI; Jeffrey (Chelsea Jedele) Cammet of Grass Lake, Ml; grandsons Connor and Reid Cammet; sister Bonnie (Norm) Bondy of Bradenton, FL; sister-in-law Rose Reinhardt (David Stienocker) of Grass Lake, MI; godson, Michael Klapperich of Tecumseh, MI and longtime friend John Scherdt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Florence (Weber) Cammet and his sister, Betty.

As a father, he led by example: offering patience, wisdom and unconditional love. He cherished his grandsons and was always ready to go to a game or music performance and celebrate their achievements.

Bill loved to travel, he and Carol enjoyed many cruises and traveled the US in their RV. After years of traveling, they found a lovely place to call home in San Benito, TX. It wasn't long before he had many friends there who became family.

He was an Elker Member in San Benito, Texas

His gentle demeanor touched the lives of many.

Cremation has taken place. Per Bill's wishes, there will not be a formal service. A celebration of life will be held in Michigan at a future date.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

The family wishes to thank all the friends at Tropical Trail RV and Mobile Home Resort for all their support and kindness. Also, the excellent staff in the ICU at Valley Regional Medical Center.
