William Carlson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Duggan's Mission Chapel on Apr. 27, 2023.
William Arthur Carlson (Bill) was born March 14, 1936 in Hayward, California to Lawerence Emil Carlson and Tyyni Ingeri Carlson (born Malmstrom), who were both first generation immigrants from Pori, Turke ja Pori, Finland.
William died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at home; embracing him, circled around him, hand in hand with him, as he peacefully left his life here on earth to go onto his next spiritual journey.
William worked as a lineman then up to Manager for over 30 plus years with ATT/GTE/PACBELL, where he met the Love of his life and married Barbara Anne Ryan. Together they raised four successful, productive and caring children beginning in Hayward, California, then to Winnemucca, Nevada and finally settling in Sonoma, Callifornia in 1975.
William spent his retirement years volunteering with Barbara for various community organizations, i.e. Bouverie Audubon Preserve, Schollenberger Park Trails, Sonoma Overlook Trail, and Sonoma Girl Scout Troop 413 to name a few.
As well as being a Builder, building their family home, as well as others in Sonoma Valley, Biloxi Mississippi and North Eastern California; He also enjoyed spending time studying an array of subjects from religion & spirituality, nature, finance/gold, politics and important issues of the day. Over his lifetime he enjoyed motorcycle racing, abalone diving, hiking & camping, gold mining, building, as well as spending quality time with his family,
William is survived by his four children William, David, Julia and Caroline; and their spouses Joyce, Linda, Jeff and Brian; his loving grandchildren Melissa and Alexandra, and by siblings brother John, sister Greta Randolph and spouse Jerry; and sister Karen Smith.
He will be deeply missed by family and friends; who are truly comforted to know he peacefully died at home with family; and is now walking with Barbara hand in hand on their journey of everlasting eternity in Heaven.
We are planning a public gathering and celebration of Bill and Barbara sometime in near future. If you would like to join us for the gathering, please leave message at (707) 935-7563.
