William Carney passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Friday February 6, 2026.

He was born on November 12, 1936, in Youngstown, the son of the late William James and Catherine A. Kaufmann Carney and was a lifelong area resident.

Bill graduated from North High School, shortly after he enlisted in the United States Marines serving his country from 1956 to 1958 being honorably discharged.

He married the love of his life Faye Lavonne Burk at Immaculate Conception Church in April of 1963, and they spent 34 years together until she sadly passed on December 18, 1997.

Bill started working in 1966, for the Youngstown City Fire department at station # 1, he went from Fireman to Engineer to Captain retiring in 1996, with 30 years of service.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church until its closing and then attended Sacred Heart Church, now St. Angela Merici.

Bill enjoyed woodworking and tinkering with Willys Jeeps in his spare time. He was a member of the Tri County Marine Coops league, American legion and the A.O.H. of Mahoning Valley and Fraternal order of Eagles 213.

He leaves to cherish and remember him, his son, Michael (Donna) Carney of Youngstown, his daughter Kelly J. (Jim) Morchak of Youngstown, and son Patrick (Lori) Carney of Safety Harbor Florida.

Bill leaves his eight grandchildren, Olivia Carney (Josh Ruess), Nolan Carney, Liam (Morgan), Carney, McKenna Carney Tess Carney and Nicholas, Christopher and Andrew Morchak. His five great grandchildren; Jalen, Kyrie, Landon, Dominic and Zoe.

Bill also leaves behind his sister Mary Davies of Girard and brother Thomas (Donna) Carney of Middlebury Indiana.

Family and friends may call Friday February 13, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. John Rovnak on Saturday February 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Angela Merci Parish, 397 S. Jackson St., Youngstown.

Bill will be interred at Calvary Cemetery next to his wife.

The Carney family request material tributes to be given to the Marines Corps League of Mahoning and Trumbull County Toys for Tots.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. Boardman.
