William S. Chicora, 81, of Branchdale, Reilly Township, passed away on Saturday at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on December 11, 1940 ,in Branchdale, he was a son of the late Stephen and Mary (nee Wentz) Chicora. He was a graduate of Cass Township High School, and worked for Tredegar (formerly EXXON Chemical) for 37 years before retiring. He was an Army veteran with the U.S. Infantry, serving in Panama.
He was a member of the Citizens Fire Company of Branchdale and the Big Hill Gun Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, the former Louise Lengle, in 2020; two sons, William Chicora Jr., in 1979, and Paul Chicora, in 1995; two siblings, Joseph Chicora and Helen Lopez.
Bill is survived by two children, David Chicora, Minersville, and Annette Brilla (spouse, John), Forestville; Louise's children, Susan Hemperly (spouse, Gary), Lebanon, and Joseph Marko (Sue), New Hampshire; twelve grandchildren. He is also survived by his remaining sister, Dorothy Grover, Schuylkill Haven; nieces and nephews.
The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Thursday from 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Interment with military honors will be on Friday at 10 a.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
