William "Doug" Douglas Chrismon, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Beacon Place surrounded by his family. He was born on May 26, 1935 in Guilford County to the late Lester “L.C.” Chrismon and Pearl Apple Chrismon, and was the husband of 60 years to Ruth Evelyn Barnes Chrismon who died in 2014.
Doug retired after 38 years with Alcatel-Lucent and in his earlier years had worked for UNC Medical, Western Electric and AT&T. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, raising tomatoes, fishing, hunting, talking on his CB radio, and was known as “Shot Gun” for his handle name. Doug was an avid NASCAR fan who enjoyed watching the races on Saturdays and Sundays. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Whitsett where he enjoyed the fellowship with his church family and having lunch with his Pastor, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son, Michael Chrismon and wife Tricia; grandchildren that he adored, Abbie-Kate Chrismon, Matthew Chrismon and Maxton Chrismon; and several nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and siblings, L.B. Chrismon, Wilfred Chrismon, A.B. Chrismon, Dorothy Haney, Ruby Lowe and Jessie Lewis.
The funeral service to celebrate the life of Doug will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Tim Stevens with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 1:45pm Tuesday prior to the service.
