William W. "Bill" Clampitt, 93, resident of New Castle passed away at his residence January 12, 2025. He was born in Lawrence County, Indiana on February 4, 1931 to the late Dale and Leona (Hatfield) Clampitt.
Bill was a graduate of Shawswick High School class of 1949. He then served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bill was employed at Ford Electronics and Refrigeration Corporation, retiring in 1993 after 26 years of service. Bill actively attended South Memorial Drive Church of God, serving as leader of the Karing Keenagers, Sunday school teacher and a member of various boards and committe
es. He and his wife, Margie, volunteered as youth directors for eighteen years and attended nine international youth conventions.
Bill and Margie enjoyed traveling around the world and participating in mission experiences. His highlight was going to the Holy Land in Israel. Bill also was the coordinator for the Indiana South Youth Choir for 29 years. He enjoyed college sports and loved spending time at his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's athletic events. Bill was a devoted follower of Jesus who spent his life bringing joy to others. Bill loved his family and took great delight in hosting large family gatherings. He was known by all as a kind and compassionate gentleman.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Margie (Hillenburg) Clampitt; son, Scott (Lana) Clampitt of New Castle; 3 daughters, Cheryl (Mike) Betten of New Castle, Annette Clampitt of Dayton, OH and Lisa (David) Huff of Noblesville; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 3 great- great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special family friend, Ann Kneisly of Dayton, OH.
He was preceded in death by His parents and two brothers, Charles and Robert Clampitt.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the dialysis nurses at Fresenius Kidney Care.
Services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, January 18, 2024 at South Memorial Drive Church of God in New Castle with Reverend Lisa Huff officiating. Burial will follow at Batson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, January 17, 2025 at the church and one hour prior to service on Saturday. Memorial contributions in Bill's memory may be given to the Karing Keenagers or to the youth group at the South Memorial Drive Church of God, 3800 S. Memorial St, New Castle, IN.
