William H. "Bill" Coomes

William H. "Bill" Coomes, 85, of Swansea, IL, born Sunday, April 28, 1940, in Jonesboro, IL, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026 at his residence in Swansea.

Bill was a self-employed businessman and the proud owner of Rite Business Products. A true entrepreneur at heart, he believed in the value of a dollar and the dignity of honest work. He was always hustling-never one to sit still when there was opportunity to be found. Whether it was running his business, collecting cans along the roadside to recycle, or pursuing any other honest venture that came his way, William's determination and resourcefulness were constant hallmarks of his character.

While he worked tirelessly, nothing meant more to him than his family-especially his grandchildren. He was a doting grandfather whose pride and joy were the moments spent with them. He loved taking them on walks around the neighborhood, sharing stories, pointing out small wonders along the way, and simply enjoying their company. Those walks and quiet conversations created memories that will be cherished for generations.

Bill was also gifted with his hands. He found satisfaction in building and fixing things, whether crafting birdhouses or repairing porches. He believed in taking care of what you had and leaving things better than you found them. His handiwork stands as a tangible reminder of his steady presence and practical wisdom.

He will be remembered for his tireless work ethic, his inventive spirit, and most of all, his deep love for his family. William's legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the things he built, and the grandchildren who were the light of his life.
