William Cowper Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mercer-Adams Funeral Service on Mar. 29, 2026.
William "Bill" Cowper III was born to William and Jean Cowper on August 2, 1949 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He went to be with his Messianic Jewish Savior, Yeshua, on March 25, 2026, passing peacefully at home.

As a young man, Bill attended James Madison Elementary School, Taft Middle School, and Northwest Classen High School with the Class of 1967. Shortly after graduation, he was drafted into the military and was enlisted in the United States Air Force. Bill proudly served for eleven years as a Minuteman missile mechanic with the 44th and 351st Strategic Missile Wings. He loved the Air Force more than any other career and often said he would gladly do it all again. Bill continued serving his country in the Oklahoma National Guard and worked for the Federal Aviation Administration. Later, he became an A&P mechanic for the airlines.

Bill's greatest passion in life was studying the Bible and its history. Deeply devoted to his faith, he found great meaning in learning and reflecting on Scripture. Among some of his greatest joys were also his hobbies. He loved old cars, his Cessna 150, and his hang glider. In addition, he loved his beloved "fur babies," Harvey and Lewis.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jean Cowper; his grandparents, William F Cowper and Norma Welty, Albert Bays and Pearl Williamson, Otis and Hattie Brazeal, and Rev. Hardy and Effie Monks; his sisters, Claudia Goff, Jennifer Crist, and Janet Sparkman; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Junior and Pauline Brazeal; and a baby brother-in law. He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Kay Brazeal Cowper; his devoted daughter, Lisa M. Gregory; his son-in-law, Levi Gregory; and his brother, Jonathan Cowper. Bill also leaves behind many cherished extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 10:00 a.m., at Mercer-Adams Chapel, 3925 N Asbury in Bethany, Oklahoma. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park, 6001 NW Grand Blvd, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

If you would like to offer condolences, the family requests that in lieu of flowers please consider donations be made to the Oklahoma National Guard Museum, https://www.okngmuseum.com/donate.
