William Cribb Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McMillan-Small Funeral Home & Crematory on Apr. 18, 2025.
On April 11, 2025, William Hutto Cribb, 90, went peacefully to Heaven from where he lived with his loving wife Joann at The Portside at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Born August 23, 1934, in McColl, South Carolina, William was the son of the late Hutto Lee and Lessie Mae Cribb.
In addition to his parents, William was predeceased by his three sisters, Harriette Cornellia Duncan, Bertha Mae Jackson and Mary Frances Rutherford.
William and Joann met at a Church in Columbia, South Carolina while William was at Fort Jackson while serving in the North Carolina National Guard. They were married and raised their family in Columbia where they were members of Shandon United Methodist Church. William was a proud Mason. He was in the food brokerage business until he pursued his passion of baking and opened Cribb's Bakery in 1976. Mr. Cribb enjoyed telling many bakery stories over the years.
In 2004 William and Joann retired to their longtime favorite spot in North Myrtle Beach where he enjoyed fishing and taking daily trips to tend to his farm. He had quite the green thumb and loved sharing his bounty from the farm with family and friends. The happiest place for William was always spending time with Joann, his loving wife of 68 years.
In addition to his wife Joann, William is survived by his two sons, William (Carol) Cribb, Jr. and Joseph (Lisa) Cribb, four grandchildren, William Cribb, III, Charles Cribb, Ashley Wingard and David Cribb, four great grandchildren, William Cribb, IV, Adalynn Cribb, Reed Wingard, Maddie Cribb, a sister, Martha Ann (Alan) Horne of Independence, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate William's life will be announced at a later time.
