A practical joker, hardworking and loving father, grandfather and brother, William K. "Sonny" Crismore, gained eternal rest at 8:00 AM on Saturday, February 8th, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving family and in the comfort of his home at the time of his passing. Sonny, as he was known and loved, was born on Tuesday, August 17th, 1937, in Martinsville, Indiana, to the late Henry William and Geraldine (Stierwalt) Crismore.
He spent his entire life in Morgan County and graduated from Martinsville High School with the class of 1956. A man with a strong work ethic, Sonny began working at age sixteen as a stock boy at Schwab's IGA in Martinsville. His career portfolio was extensive and included many years at Allison Transmission in Indianapolis, the Morgan County Hospital, Morgan County Fair grounds keeper, Twigg Automotive, Martinsville Kroger, and driving a bus for the MSD of Martinsville. Sonny was also the owner of Martinsville Vault Company from 1972-1976.
Sonny loved his community and enjoyed socializing with friends and fellow members of the American Legion Post #230, VFW Post #1257, and the Masonic Lodge #74 all in Martinsville. He was also a past member of the Moose Lodge #1127, as well as an 8 year "Seabee" of the United States Naval Construction Battalion.
Aside from working, which he truly did enjoy, and socializing, Sonny also loved to feed the squirrels and spend time with his family.
He is survived by a host of loving family members including his four daughters, Pam (Jim) Asher and Gina Crismore both of Martinsville, IN, Beth Phillips of Jacksonville, FL, and Paula (Randy) Goss of Paragon, IN; brother, Jerry (Nancy) Crismore of Martinsville, IN; eight grandchildren who graciously and lovingly cared for him until the very end, Shawn Anderson, Brandy Johnson, Jamie (Travis) Noragon, Misti (Matt) Hickman, Stacy (Mark) Murray, Heather Goss, Evelyn Michelle Goss, and Ronnie Perry; eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Patsy Lou "Pat" (Starnes) Crismore on June 19th, 2006; son, Paul William Crismore; granddaughter, Brittney Perry; and sister, Ruthann Elliott.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, February 16th, 2025, from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Neal & Summers Funeral Home in Martinsville. A graveside service and burial will be on Monday, February 17th, 2025, beginning at 2:00 PM in Hilldale Cemetery in Martinsville.
Contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Morgan County Humane Society, 690 W. Mitchell Ave., Martinsville, Indiana, 46151.
