Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schiavone Funeral Home on Feb. 25, 2026.

William "Bill" Croutch, passed away peacefully at his residence on February 24, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on May 21, 1928, in Youngstown, Ohio, William was a man of great character who always had a smile, willing to help anyone in need. He had an unwavering love for his family and friends, which was evident in every aspect of his life.

As the owner of Steelton Garage for 50 years alongside his brother Robert, William established a legacy that reflects his dedication to hard work and service to others. His knowledgeable nature extended beyond his profession; he was also an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed engaging with all kinds of sports. In addition to his love for athletics, William cherished traveling, visiting casinos, enjoying family holidays, and the excitement of playing the lottery.

William proudly served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman, showcasing his commitment to his country. Throughout his life, he formed a remarkable bond with his loved ones, notably with his daughters, Susanne (David) Verdinek of Boardman and Nancy Williams of Canfield. He took great joy in his grandchildren, Christopher (Chelsea) Moschella of League City, TX, Marc (Mimi) Moschella of Spring Hill, TN, and Kellie (Chris Cary) Bietsch of Austintown, as well as his great-grandchildren, Olivia, Summer, and Myla. William also leaves behind his sister, Gloria Chance, and many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Josephine Alexander Croutch; his wife Elaine, whom he married on July 16, 1949, and who passed away on November 25, 2024; his brother, Robert Croutch; a sister, Mildred Croutch; and his son-in-law, Daniel G. Williams.

A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Monsignor Peter Polando will take place at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown on March 2, 2026, at 10:00 AM followed by entombment at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
