William (Billy) Wayne Cruthirds, 66 of Ragland AL passed away so very peacefully at the Birmingham VA Hospital, on September 30, 2025. He was born on January 5, 1959 in Gulfport, MS to the late Dalton Cruthirds and Flossie A. Cruthirds. In addition to his parents, Billy was predeceased by his brothers Tommy Cruthirds and Ronnie Cruthirds as well as his sisters Jeannie Donald Smith and Debbie Cruthirds. Billy is survived by his Wife Sherrie Kathleen Cruthirds and his sister Audrey Ulmer (George), his brother Danny Cruthirds (Nina), and a multitude of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sisters in law Carla Fairley Seales (Danny), Janetta Garcia (Ricky), and Donna Thompson (Phillip) as well as his nephew-son Cody James Fairley (Alisa). He is also survived by his cousin-in-law and brother in arms Cary Ballard (Tasha), whom he greatly respected and loved. Billy spent his life enjoying adventure. He joined the US Army at the age of 19 where he was an airborne member of 782nd Maintenance Batallion at Ft. Bragg, NC. His MOS (63H) was Track Vehicle Repair but he was placed into the MOS (91F) of small arms repair, that he loved! However, the thing he loved the most was jumping out of perfectly good airplanes he was Airborn afterall! After Ft. Bragg he was transferred to Pinder Barracks in Zirndorf, Germany where he was in MOS (91H) Track Vehicle Repair. Once he was discharged from the US Army, he became a propane delivery driver, from there a fuel tanker driver, then he drove a school bus in Reidsville, GA. Then, upon retirement, Billy became obsessed with catching catfish, and boy did he concentrate his energy on that. Billy was an adventurer who loved including his wife. This man was the ultimate in the life of his wife and he is greatly loved and respected by her. She will never be the same. An honor service including 21 gun salute and the playing of bagpipes will be held at 1401 Dogwood Lane, Ashville, AL 35953 at 2PM on Sunday October 5, 2025. Good bye my love, I will forever be yours and will see you soon
