William "Billy" Culbreth

William "Billy" Claus Culbreth, 93 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, May 24, 2024 at Cokesbury Methodist Church in Stedman, officiating will be Rev. Ray Burkart. Burial with military honors will follow at Fisher Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM Friday at the church prior to the service.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Munsey and Ida Belle Culbreth; his first wife, Betty Hanson Culbreth; his second wife Jewell Williams Culbreth; sons, Wesley and Jeffery Culbreth; step-son, Mike Sutton; and his siblings, Grey, Inez, Hattie Ruth, Sadie and Hazel Culbreth, Joy Morrison, Beverly Newby, Stanley and Lois Culbreth.
Billy played basketball in school, and he graduated from Stedman High School in 1948. He was also a United States Air Force Veteran. He was a longtime member of Cokesbury Methodist Church, where he was a Lay Person, taught Sunday School Class, and was a member of the choir for over 50 years. Billy was an avid Carolina Tarheels fan. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Terry Kater & husband, Robert of Stedman; grandsons, Bill Cooper & wife, Kristine of Stedman, and Adam Culbreth of Los Angeles, CA; step-grandsons, Keith Sutton & wife, Debbie and Matthew Sutton & wife, Erica; great grandchild, Leonnie Cooper; step-great grandchildren, Cole, Claire and Matthew Sutton, Jr.; and a great great grandchild, Gracie Sutton.
