Born William Eugene Curler on January 25, 1946 in Dubuque, Iowa, he was the son of Fred and Viola (Donath) Curler. After graduating from high school, he went on to attend his certification in HVAC. Bill honorably served his country with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Later he was a proud member of the American Legion.
Upon his return to Iowa, he worked for 17 years at Dubuque Packing. Later he took a position as Superintendent with Graham’s Construction, followed by Maintenance Supervisor at Valley West High School and then Director of Maintenance at Capital Complex in Des Moines. He relocated to Marshalltown after accepting the role of Director of Facilities at the Iowa Veterans Home, where he retired.
Bill was united in marriage with Robin (nee Miller) on December 9, 2006. He was a true family man and loved to explore. He enjoyed camping and fishing, taking day trips to the Amana Colonies or different wineries with Robin, and visiting family in various states. More than anything he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Robin; his children: William (Sandy) Curler II, Patricia Curler, Debra Atluru, Kimberly Drew and Jeffrey Fouch; grandchildren: Jessica Curler (Josh), Samantha Fernandez, Emily (Mitchell) Wirfs, Sara Atloro (Anthony), Gabriella Curler, Brandon Drew, Brock Drew (Nikki), Anida Shearer, Haleigh Tyndall, Morgan Fouch and Jackson Fouch; 11 great-grandchildren; and his siblings: Fred Curler Jr., Mildred (George) Freed and Donald (Karen) Curler.
In eternal life, Bill is reunited with his parents, Fred and Viola; two brothers, Ralph and Robert “Bobby” Curler; and two great-grandchildren, Griffin and Nessa.
