William "Bill" Lamar Daniel, 75, passed away peacefully on August 17th, 2025, at The Landing of Winder, GA. Born and raised in Atlanta's West End neighborhood, Bill later lived in Conyers before settling in Madison, GA in 2005. He was a 1967 graduate of Brown High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Georgia State University in 1971, followed by an executive MBA from Stanford University. He retired in 2019 after a distinguished career as a trusted leader and mentor in Georgia's banking community. Over the years, Bill served as a division president of United Community Bank (following its acquisition of Liberty National where he was a founding director and CEO); senior vice president of Bank South; division president at Peoples Bank in Conyers; president and CEO of Planters First Bank; and president of the Rockdale County Chamber of Commerce. Bill was the youngest child of George and Louise Daniel of Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy Gray of Ozark, AR, and brother James Daniel of Rockmart. He is survived by his wife of 29 plus years, Pamela Daniel of Madison, GA, son Chase Bagwell and his wife Ashlee of Social Circle, GA, daughter Lauren Bagwell of Covington, GA, three grandchildren Andee, Averee and Emmi, sister Linda Causey of Blue Ridge, GA and her daughter Carolyn Mueller of Cornelia, GA and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, and extended family. Known for his leadership, loyalty, and "impeccable manners", Bill also enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He loved golfing and attending the Masters, listening to the Beatles, traveling to Italy and Spain, and exploring the American West including the Grand Canyon and Yosemite. At home, he took pride in a perfectly kept lawn, never turned down a chocolate bar or a Varsity chili dog, and cherished time with his family and friends. A memorial service to celebrate Bill's life will be held on Saturday August 23, 2025, at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Pastor Joe Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday August 23, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Abbey Hospice in Social Circle, GA or your local Boys and Girls Club. Condolences may be submitted online at www.scotward.com .
