William R. "Bill" David, age 90, peacefully passed away on February 28, 2025. Bill was born on May 27, 1934 in Cleveland, OH to the late William and Edith David.
A proud Veteran of the United States Army, Bill exemplified a spirit of duty and commitment that carried him throughout his life. He retired after 28 years with the Cleveland Police Department, where he worked diligently to protect and serve his community. After retirement, he continued to serve in a different capacity, working for MBNA for 10 years. Even while with the police department, Bill contributed to the safety and enjoyment of Cleveland's events, overseeing security at the old Cleveland Stadium and the Cleveland Convention Center, as well as managing security for the concession stands at the Stadium for ten years.
Bill was a dedicated family man and a fierce supporter of Cleveland's professional sports teams. You could often find him glued to his lawn chair, cheering on his children and grandchildren at their sporting events. A true testament to his love for family, at the age of 65, he played baseball with his sons in which he pitched for their team as they celebrated two championships together. Bill's support and encouragement remained unwavering until he was physically unable to do so.
In his honor, let us remember a man who lived life to the fullest, always putting family first, and whose heart was as big as his love for his community. Bill will be deeply missed but will forever remain in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Bill was beloved husband of Iva David (nee McKimmy), for 46 years; a loving father of Billy David (Billie Jo), Dan David (Rosemary), and John David (Jocelynn); a proud grandfather of Josh, Erin, Kaylee, Liam, Claire, Ryan, Julia, Finn, and Sullivan; a brother of Donna Bly (Gary) and the late Patricia Stakolich (Edward).
Family will receive friends on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Justin Martyr Parish 35781 Stevens Blvd. Eastlake, OH 44095. A Memorial Mass will immediately follow at 11:00 AM at the church. For those unable to attend, the Mass will be streamed live on St. Justin's website at https://www.stjustin.net/live-stream.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in Bill's memory to Hospice of the Western Reserve P.O. Box 72101 Cleveland, OH 44192.

To Bill David´s family, we offer our condolences on the loss of a great human being. Always ready to help when needed and always ready with a story, Bill has been missed from the old Mills Creek neighborhood these last few years. We miss his appearing on our deck with his dog just to chat. We miss his advice on nearly any project taking place in anybody´s yard. We just miss his company. But when Iva wanted to live closer to her family, Bill crossed the river from west side to east and we are sure he made as much of an impression on his new neighbors. The world is a duller place with Bill´s passing. Iva, you and your family are in our thoughts as you go through this difficult time.
Love, Dick and Kathy Brothers

Dear Iva & David Families, our deepest condolences to you. We miss you in the old neighborhood. No cop showing up in riot gear to break up a domestic complaint on Halloween! We had to invite him in for a cocktail so that he could see nothing was going on YET! We miss Bill coming over when we were working in the yard. He would offer his opinions & offer to help us unload railway ties. We are sorry we didn't make time to come see you in Eastlake. Bill's sense of humor was contagious. It was fun joking with him. We will keep you in our prayers. Kathy & Jeff Keefer
